UNESCO announced this Saturday, June 22, 2013, the classification of the University of Coimbra as World Heritage, enclosing the University, the Hightown and Sofia Quarter. Settling a project of 15 years.

After a long and complicated journey, the application of the University of Coimbra was now recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Site, decision taken in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
